Now that my mouth is watering, I am excited to announce a few changes that will be coming to my blog in the coming weeks!

As many of you may not know, as well as being an indulgent baker I am also a Registered Dietitian (you can read more about me here).

When people hear that I am a dietitian and a baker, the first question they ask is ‘How do you balance your nutrition background with your passion for baking?’.

My answer is that I believe that there is room for most foods in a healthy diet, it is all about balance and moderation.

Yes, a large slice of cheesecake should not be an everyday food. But there is definitely room for it in moderation.

Since I am sure many of you have had the same questions, I wanted to bring more of my nutrition expertise to this blog. I plan on doing this in the following ways.

  1.  I will write posts on several aspects of maintaining a balanced diet and answer any nutrition questions you may have. My first post will include tips to reduce sugar throughout the day so there is room to indulge on a sweet treat!
  2. Where applicable, I will add recipe variations for different dietary needs including dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free. These will be added to all current and future recipes, where the recipe does not have to be significantly altered.

Don’t worry, the one thing that will not change are my indulgent dessert recipes!

Indulgent dessert recipes are the foundation of my blog and they always will be! The changes mentioned above are in addition to delicious, decadent dessert recipes.

My hope is that the addition of these changes will give people a better understanding of how a balanced diet can be maintained, while still enjoying the sweet things in life!

I would love to hear your thoughts on these changes! Please let me know if there are specific topics you would like covered.

All opinions and suggestions are appreciated, I really want to know if there is specific content you would like!

Now, I am off to indulge in some of the fall recipes I have been testing. In addition to many new fall recipes, I plan on having a fall cookie series. Stay tuned 🙂

  1. I think it’s great how you’re combining both. I think it will be very straightforward and I can’t wait to read them. I am sure this will create double the work in the kitchen, but the payoff will be great!

  2. I think it is a great idea to incorporate your nutrition background into your blog. I have a huge sweet tooth but strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I look forward to seeing what you have to say! 🙂

    1. As we can all assume, my sweet tooth is off the charts as well! I hope that the information is helpful as well!

    1. Thank you, when I update each previous recipe I will definitely let everyone know as well as when the knew nutrition content comes out as well!

    1. Thank you, it is definitely a perfect use for fresh apricots and is a fun and easy spin on a more traditional fruit crisp!

  3. The biggest struggle of my life right now—balancing healthy eating with my love of baking goodies. Especially fall ones! And I’m losing the battle with food and my weight right now. This would be perfect!!!

    1. That is definitely a struggle many people have and one that I have had difficulty with as well. I hope that these new posts will be helpful. If there are any topics that you would like to see I would love to know!

  4. I think I am now a big fan of you! I just pin your post. I will show these to my husband and hopefully he will bake one this weekend. I am not baking I am just going read out load the recipe for him…and eat the cake ofcourse!

    1. Thank you so much! I hope you were able to try one of the recipes over the weekend and would love to hear what it was and how you liked it!

    1. Thank you! I would caution in calling it ‘healthy baking’. It is more tweaking recipes for different dietary needs. I think there is a lot of confusion that because something is vegan of gluten-free that it is healthy, which is definitely not true. Maybe that could be another post!

  5. All your recipes look so good. I always love seeing the photos of them. Your new additions sound perfect, especially for people with intolerances / vegans.

  6. First of all, omgosh these all look amazing! I wish I could eat like 12 of each hahah but I love that you are a dietician and a baker. I tried to lose weight for years and went on all sorts of crazy diets. In the end, I lost weight by learning how to balance.

    1. I think that is a very similar story to a lot of people out there. As a dietitian, all those diets are something that definitely drives me crazy! I hope to give some clarity about how you can have some of everything, just in moderation!

  7. Wow that is a lot of delicious recipes you’ve compiled! My absolute favourite is the Triple Chocolate Cookie Dough Ice Cream – it looks divine! I’ve saved it to try a bit later on 🙂

    1. Thank you, all of the blondies/brownie recipes are some of my most popular so that is definitely a good place to start! I would love to hear what you end up making 🙂

  8. I’m loving all of these desserts. Particularly the raspberry almond one though. It’s perfectly bite sized for a small treat.
